Introduction

Today I’m reviewing another great product near to my heart called The Ultimate Small Shop Guide. This guide (more like a book) walks you through setting up your own woodworking shop on a budget in any space you have available, Plus it will walk you through the best tools to get and where to get them at a discount.

I gained my initial experience in small woodworking projects within my basement “wood shop” using a basic set of tools. However, as my skills and projects expanded, I quickly outgrew the limited space. Additionally, after having kids, it became difficult to operate noisy machinery while they were trying to sleep in their beds above me. As a result, I made the decision to relocate my workshop to our one-car garage.

Unfortunately, I encountered challenges in this new setup. The flow within the garage was not ideal, making it difficult to complete projects efficiently. Despite setting up my shop in different ways, I continued to face the same issue – my tools were not conveniently located when I needed them the most.

I decided to get this guide and it changed everything, I now have a great work flowing wood working shop, still in my 1 car garage, that allows me to complete projects quickly and make more money as a result without spending thousands of dollars.

How did you get started?

Imagine having your very own shop so well laid-out that it FEELS like a larger shop. Have you ever asked yourself these questions?

  • WHAT tools do you really need?
  • WHY do you need each specific tool?
  • WHERE you can buy them at ridiculously low prices?
  • HOW should I set up my shop to get the best flow?

Are you thinking of becoming a woodworker and set up your own workshop, but your small space and limited funds are getting in the way?

It turns out that even with a small space (as small as 8’X8’ square feet); you can still set-up up a complete, fully functional workshop.

And you don’t have to worry about not having a lot of money; at UltimateSmallShop.com, expert woodworker Ralph Chapman created a complete guide to setting up a small, but complete workshop for under $1,000. Watch this 1 minute video to learn more.

The Ultimate Small Shop System Overview

No Space, No Funds No Tools? No problem!

Workshop space available and tool selection are among the most common problems beginner wood-workers face. Many beginning woodworkers don’t know how much money they need to set up a shop, how much space is enough, how to shop for quality wood and tools with limited funds, among other things. In the complete guide to building small but efficient workshops, The Ultimate Small Shop Guide addresses these issues in detail and more.

What’s This All About and Who Is It For?

As a wood worker, you need a shop and a place to keep your lumber and other tools. Setting up a workshop may sound expensive, and many woodworkers think they need a large space to get started, this simply isn’t true. As nice as it would be to start with a huge shop, with just $1,000 and a space as small as 8’X8’ square feet, you can build a functional workshop and get started making money at your craft, and isn’t that the point? Get started, make some money, then move up….

After starting in a small spot in my basement, I completely understand where Ralph is coming from. You just need to know how to maximize your space and select the right tools for the job. Ralph takes you step by  step through the entire process of setting this up in his ultimate small shop guide, but that’s not all you get.

Ralph’s website, UltimateSmallShop.com is dedicated to showing woodworkers how to build small complete workshops on a budget. The website offers you comprehensive guides covering all the factors that you need to consider when setting up a proper workshop, from the most basic to the most critical. The website also provides critical insights for tool selection including where to buy them at a discount from your standard big box stores.

If you are a woodworker wondering:

  • How much money will I need to set up my workshop?
  • Is this space too small for a fully functional workshop?
  • How do I get quality tools, and what’s the bare minimum woodworking tools will I need?
  • What are the most important factors to consider when setting up a woodworking workshop?

Then the Ultimate Small Shop System was created for you. It is also important to note that while the website was basically meant to help beginners who are setting up shop for the first time, its insights are also very helpful even to more experienced woodworkers who already have a shop.

It contains many tips on workspace optimization, improving efficiency with tool selection and machine placements and when to transition as your business grows, and it will.

Are you Serious about Woodworking?

Setting up your first woodworking shop shouldn’t be very difficult, but without knowing how to set it up for efficiency, what you need to do and things you should avoid doing, it may end up being more difficult and expensive than you thought and that is when most beginner wood workers quit.

One Example is when it comes buying tools, many beginner wood workers just don’t know what to get or where to get them so they end up buying poor quality tools or tools they actually don’t need. I have so many tools that I bought for one project only to end up trying to find a place to store it for the long term.

And speaking of tools, it turns out those big retailers (like Amazon, Lowes, Home Depot) that promise “best prices” aren’t the best places to shop for quality wood working tools at reasonable prices. The Ultimate Small Shop guide, gives you a list of the best and most important tools to get and where to buy them from at discounted prices saving you loads of time and money.

Woodworking Shop Space Constraints

If you are wondering whether or not that small space in your basement or garage will be enough for your workshop, Ralph’s guide has complete floor-plans for creating workshop layouts in small spaces giving you a flow through that can actually make you money by reducing wasted time.

If you are just getting into wood working, this guide is your starting point, and when you have great place to start and a direction to go in, you’ll get to your dream shop quicker than if you just try to go at it alone.

Learn from the guide how to set up your wood shop the right way so you can focus on what you build best. Do you like to make picture frames? furniture? signs? Or refurbish old furniture? Why waste your time figuring out how to layout your shop or what tools to get? Start with this guide, like I did, and leave that other stuff you don’t want to waste time on, to a professional so you can focus on your craft.

Woodworking Shop Summary

If you have read to this point, I am grateful.

it is in my opinion, this wood shop setup guide is the best out there. You get tons of value for a small price.

You can watch lots of Youtube videos from woodworking guru’s with huge, beautiful shops. However, none of them are really telling you what it takes to get started.

They all started in a small shop and worked their way up, they didn’t start in that huge space with every tool you can imagine…

There are plenty of free guides out there on wood shop setups but most of them don’t focus on budget – which is one of the most important factors.

Let’s face it, you can set up any shop you like if you have an endless budget! But not everyone has that luxury – certainly not me. The Ultimate small shop tips, tricks, and advice are useful and very practical for shop setups on a budget.

Ralph includes all the lessons he learned the hard way. And his goal is to save you from the agony of the trial-and-error process. With this guide, you will no longer have to make bone-headed mistakes or waste any more money buying the wrong tools.
